Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

What is the difference between IQF and block freezing?

IQF (Individual Quick Freezing) freezes each fruit separately in a blast tunnel (−30°C to −40°C), so the fruit does not clump and keeps its shape. Block freezing freezes the whole batch together — harder to portion and more likely to damage the fruit structure.

Why is IQF fruit better for production?

Fast, individual freezing limits the large ice crystals that damage cells. After thawing the fruit loses less juice and keeps its firmness, colour and flavour — giving consistent quality in recipes.

What frozen fruit does MBF offer?

Cherries, raspberries, strawberries, blueberries, currants and apples — whole, diced and sliced, in various calibrations.

Does MBF supply fresh fruit?

Yes. MBF has its own ~100-hectare orchard (cherries, apples, pears) and supplies fresh fruit for direct sale and for processing.

How should IQF fruit be stored and thawed?

Store at −18°C or below without breaking the cold chain. Slow thawing in a chiller (2–6°C) gives the best results and limits juice loss.

What quality certificates does MBF hold?

Production is certified to BRCGS, IFS Food, organic farming (EKO) and Kosher; the orchard farm has held GLOBALG.A.P. since 2012.

Does MBF handle wholesale and export?

Yes. MBF operates B2B — wholesale in Poland and export to Eastern and Western Europe, the USA and Asia (Korea, Japan).

Does MBF freeze fruit to order?

Yes. MBF offers contract sorting, peeling, cutting, pitting, IQF freezing and packing of fruit and vegetables — a 3,000 m² facility with 16 cold-storage chambers.

What are the minimum order quantities (MOQ) and packaging options?

We fulfil wholesale orders — from single pallets to full refrigerated trucks. We pack from 1-25 kg cartons up to 1000 kg big-bags, per customer specification.

Which countries does MBF export frozen fruit to?

We supply customers in Poland and the European Union, as well as the USA and Canada, South Korea, Japan and the Middle East.

What is the order lead time?

It depends on the product, calibre and season — we confirm stock levels and timing at the quotation stage. We typically respond to enquiries within 24 business hours.

Do the frozen products contain additives or preservatives?

No. Our IQF fruit is 100% fruit — no added sugar, preservatives or colourants. Shelf life of up to 24 months is achieved through the freezing technology and an unbroken −18°C cold chain.
